In Germany, you generally need a Category C1 driving licence to drive the Carthago liner‑for‑two, as most models have a maximum authorised mass of between 3.5 t and 6.7 t. With a Class C1 licence, you are permitted to drive heavy motorhomes weighing up to 7.5 t, whereas a standard Class B car driving licence is only valid for vehicles weighing up to 3.5 t.
