On vacation with the rental motorhome or caravan

We have the helpful tips around the rental

Vacationing in a caravan or motor home is all the rage: whether it's a city break for two, a trip to the mountains with all the kids, or a trip to the fjord with friends and a canoe. No other type of vacation offers so much freedom and flexibility for almost every budget. If you simply want to try out a vacation in a mobile home, you don't have to buy one yourself. Especially for beginners the rent of a motorhome or caravan offers itself.

We at Niesmann Caravaning offer you models with top equipment that are not older than two years and have been thoroughly checked in our master workshop before starting your journey. Together we will find the right motorhome or caravan for your purposes. We have valuable tips for renting for you including a comprehensive introduction to your rolling vacation home.

What costs can be expected

In addition to the size and equipment of the vehicle, the time period plays a decisive role for the rental price. If you don't have school-age children, you can save money by renting outside of the vacations. In principle, the rental is charged per day, with the minimum rental period usually being one week. In addition, there is a service fee for the provision of the vehicle including a gas bottle and a deposit. A comprehensive insurance is usually already included in the rental price. The excess is usually equal to the amount of the deposit and is offset against it in the event of damage.

The experts of InterCaravaning recommend particularly inexperienced drivers and camping beginners to think about an additional insurance. This reduces the excess and in the case of damage the costs are limited in such a way. Vacationers should also find out how many free kilometers the rented vehicle has.

Which driving license class is necessary?

Drivers who obtained their Class 3 license before 1999 are allowed to drive almost any motorhome and pull any caravan. Those who obtained a Class B driver's license after 1999 are only allowed to drive vehicles with a total mass of 3.5 tons. However, manufacturers are prepared for this and offer numerous comfortable and generously equipped motorhomes that may be driven with a B driving license.

Since January 2013, the B96 driving license has been available for team drivers. With this extension, holders of a B driving license are allowed to drive car-trailer combinations up to 4.25 tons. After a one-day training course, around 90 percent of the caravans available on the market can thus be moved. An examination is not necessary and the B96 driving license is significantly cheaper than the BE driving license. But be careful: a license is no substitute for practice. Before you go on a big trip, you should first do a few test laps to familiarize yourself with the driving characteristics of a caravan or motor home. Of course you will get a detailed instruction. Furthermore, we offer you the possibility to make an appropriate driving license for your desired model.

What must be observed during handover and return?

Camping vacationers should take their time when picking up and returning the vehicle. Only those who thoroughly inspect the vehicle in daylight can detect any damage. In this case, it is important that they are recorded in the handover protocol. A good dealer always takes sufficient time for inspection, explanations and a detailed briefing. In addition to tips on the rental vehicle, vacationers also receive important information, such as traffic regulations abroad.

Renters should also check the completeness and documentation of accessories and inventory. At their InterCaravaning dealer, rental customers always receive models with top equipment. None of the vehicles is more than two years old. Before each trip, the vehicle undergoes a thorough check-up by the master workshop. However, travelers usually have to provide their own crockery, bed linen and towels. When returning the vehicle, it is important to observe the rental conditions. In most cases, the tenant must clean the interior himself. Vacationers should pay particular attention to emptying and cleaning the toilet cassette so that cleaning does not have to be billed later.

Also for prospective buyers, the vacation in a rented caravan or motorhome provides the ideal basis for decision-making. Otherwise, you can also let our online vehicle advisor show you the suitable models according to your wishes.
